You must have a Masters Degrees and Teachers Certificate Odyssey Charter School, Inc.
is now accepting applications for a School Guidance Counselor to provide services to students in grades 6-12.
The Guidance Counselor works with students to help them make the best academic and personal decisions.
The Counselor meets in private with students to discuss factors that could be impacting their education and offers assistance on topics such as college applications, conflict resolution and study techniques.
Additionally, the Counselor works to assess the ability and potential in students, so they can make appropriate and attainable goals for them to work toward and achieve.
The Guidance Counselor gets to know students and their unique needs to offer specialized solutions.
Odyssey campuses are supported by a school leadership team that includes the Principal, Assistant Principals, Deans, Instructional Coaches, Guidance Counselors and staff, and Team/Department Leads.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in counseling or related field from an accredited institution Florida certification in guidance and counseling Five years of guidance counseling experience preferred Proficiency in the use of technology to manage student information and data Essential Functions and
Responsibilities:
Knowledge and understanding of human development and the unique needs and characteristics of students served Knowledge and understanding of guidance and counseling principles, programs, and services Knowledge of tests and measurement theory Knowledge of community resources and services available for student assistance Knowledge of high school graduation requirements, state scholarship programs, financial aid military, and career programs Knowledge of exceptional education procedures Knowledge and understanding of career opportunities and the development of social/ emotional skills in response to issues they face Ability to counsel and assist students, parents, and school personnel in the resolution of problems in student learning, behavior, and mental health Ability to assist and guide students in reaching their potential to become effective learners through authentic behavior modification tools to increase classroom success and social emotional growth Ability to compliment the learning environment in the classroom by using a child-centered, preventative, and developmental approach Ability to conduct individual or small group counseling Ability to assist students in the achievement of academic success Ability to administer student assessment and evaluation instruments Ability to analyze and use data Ability to communicate orally and in writing, with parents, school personnel, and the district Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to maintain sensitivity to multicultural issues Ability to help students develop a plan for their academic career that corresponds with their skills and interests to prepare them for future success Ability to facilitate communication between parents, teachers, administrators and students about behavior and academic problems Ability to assist with school programs and events Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
